Watsi launched the Emergency Surgery Fund to respond to increasing calls from our medical partners to support the urgent needs of emergency and trauma care, a leading cause of death in every country we serve.

For patients whose treatment cannot wait for our standard approval process–meeting before surgery for an interview, taking photos before treatment, gathering details for our patient’s stories, developing full treatment and recovery plans, Watsi assessment and approval–these funds will provide immediate support and peace of mind for patients and their families as they undergo life-saving care.

Given our commitment to transparency, for anyone who joins in to donate we will share an update with you on how funds are being put to use to support these urgent cases. Due to the nature and severity of emergency surgery, there will be times when patient photos, both before or after surgery, and detailed stories are not able to be shared out of respect for our patients.
